Synopsis

A Chambermaid's Diary is a novel written by Octave Mirbeau, a French novelist with numerous contributions to the literary world as short stories, drama and journals such as Sébastien Roch, Dingo, and Calvary to name a few.

This novel is narrated through the diary of Mademoiselle Célestine who works as a chambermaid who undergoes the evilness of her masters and mistresses. As the novel progress, she exploits her beauty to seduce wealthy men and end up becoming bourgeois café hostess. Now it is her turn, she mistreats her servant as other mistresses had done.
