Heart of Darkness

Synopsis

Heart of Darkness is a novel which unearths the cruelty and corruptions of European trading companies over the African natives.

Charles Marlow, has been appointed by a Belgium Ivory trading company to transport the goods in the company stations on the Congo river. The sailor who originally intended to meet a mysterious Journalist name Kurtz who has been described as a finest Agent by the company. During Marlow’s travel throughout the inner stations of the company, he witnesses the arrogant treatment rendered to the native African workers aboard the ship as well as the inner stations of the company.

Contrast to Marlow’s expectations Kurtz has become a uncrowned king of the remote darker regions, later dies in the presence of Marlow. His last words during his deathbed were about his fiancee whom he called “My Intended”.
