Synopsis

Mysteries of Police and Crime is an indepth exploration of criminology written by former Inspector of Prisons, Major Arthur Griffith who won the John Howard Gold Medal. He is also the author of the works Memorials of Millbank and Chronicles of Newgate.  This book has been divided into 3 volumes and this one is the first volume.  Divided into four parts such as A general study of Crime and detection, Judicial Errors, Police - Past & Present, and Captains of Crime.

Part I explores the cause of the crime, how the press aids the police in investigating the crimes, the importance of small clues and how luck plays in favor and against criminals.   Part II explores the Judicial errors which leads to wrongful convictions and the possiblity of police mistakes.  Part III is written about how the policing works in the past and the modern police systems. The final part is true account of famous criminals including male and female criminals.
