She was dragged to the forests along with her three children. Her youngest daughter Sara and she were wounded before being captured. While Sara was allowed to stay with her, other children were separated from her. During her 11 weeks life as captive, her daughter Sara died. She narrates life as captive is full of uncertainty. If one day she was treated well by the Indian captivators, next day she may not receive the same treatment and even put on to starvation without any reason or explanation. She was released after 11 weeks for a ransom of 20 pounds.
