Second Treatise of Government is a political treatise written by the English philosopher John Locke who is regarded as the "Father of Classical Liberalism".   His thinking has influenced works of Voltaire, Rousseau, and even many American revolutionaries.  Among his wfritings notable are A Letter Concerning Toleration, An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, Some Thoughts Concerning Education, and Of the Conduct of the Understanding. 

While the first treatise refutes the concept of monarchy’s divine right, the second treatise contends for a wider acceptance of alternative religious convictions.  It should be emphasized that these two works of the author has laid the foundations for the modern democratic state in many countries, not just in England alone.
