Synopsis

Stories about Animals is a scientific treatise of animals written by the American author Francis Channing Woodworth, remembered for his juvenile writings such as Stories for little folks, Stories about birds and beasts , Stories about the country, Youth's book of gems, and Uncle Frank's peep at the beasts.

Though the title of the book says stories about animals, the author mentioned in the preface that only the quadruped races of the animals are taken in this book. Though the stories contain the human characters, the major character revolves around at least one animal.  Some the stories are The Panther and Leopard, The Rat and Mouse, The Hippopotamus, The Monkey Tribe, The Ox and Cow, and The Dog.
