Synopsis

The Beautiful and Damned is a jazz age novel written by Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, an American novelist remembered for his novels The Great Gatsby, This Side of Paradise and Tender Is the Night.

This novel narrates the story Anthony Patch and his wife Gloria and the uncertainty of pre-war years followed by the economic crisis. The readers are taken through their life which is progressed by compulsion rather than love, because they were forced to live together for inheriting wealth of Anthony’s grandfather which bonds the inevitable separation of the couple. Gloria waits for the death of her husband who has fallen to the ghost of alcoholism.
