The Miser is a French Play written by Molière who is considered as one of the masters of comedy in western literature for his masterpieces like The Misanthrope, The School for Wives, Tartuffe, and The Imaginary Invalid.
The Miser narrates the story of Harpagon who has accumulated huge wealth by money lending. His huge wealth has made him only as a miser and arranging her daughter Élise to marry to a old man Anselme who does not ask dowry. Élise fell in love with Valère who saved her life from drowning. Valère works as a servant at Harpagon's house but being suspected as a robber by Harpagon. Harpagon wanted to marry young Mariane who is loved by Harpagon's son Cléante. In the preceding incidents it is revealed that Valère and Mariane are the children of Anselme and heir of noble blood. The play ends up the children of Harpagon and Anselme gets married.
